43 representatives of educational institutions from different regions of Ukraine took part in the training for Education Centers

June 28, 2021, 8:09 p.m.

The NGO “Open Policy Foundation” summed up the results of the training titled “’Donbas/Crimea-Ukraine’ Education Centers: Features of the 2021 Admission Campaign” that the Foundation held at the International Green School for managers and employees of Education Centers, higher education institutions, colleges, and vocational schools.

The event was organized by the Open Policy Foundation together with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine with the support of the USAID’s “Democratic Governance in Eastern Ukraine” project.

Two training sessions brought together 43 representatives of educational institutions of Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv, Kherson, Odesa, Chernihiv, Rivne, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zhytomyr, Ternopil, Chernivtsi, Kirovohrad regions, and Kyiv.

The training program includes the following modules:

• Acquaintance with the new legal framework, the procedure of simplified admission using “Donbas/Crimea-Ukraine” Education Centers in 2021;

• Analysis of EC cases: stories of failures and successes regarding the admission campaign in 2020;

• Features of promotion of “Donbas/Crimea-Ukraine” Education Centers in educational institutions;

• Cloud management;

• Prevention of professional burnout;

• A training component on the principles of gender equity and social inclusion (GESI).

The practical part of the training - the work of participants in groups - had extremely high results. Team brainstorms resulted in the development of a package of documents that will help ensure the effective and sustainable work of Education Centers: a roadmap to establish the Education Center; recommendations to post materials about Education Centers on the websites of educational institutions; algorithms for document management in the Education Center; schemes of the EC employee’s functionality, etc.

“Participants of the training are real professionals. They are open, ready for hard work in teams. They have a lot of sincerity, which is really typical for intelligent people. And, at the same time, they have courage, without which it is difficult to win the hearts and minds of children and youth from the temporarily occupied territories. And we have to do it together,” Iryna ZHDANOVA said.

“I am impressed! I did not expect such an intensified schedule. Everyone did a great job. We need to fight for children from the temporarily occupied territories. Of course, we need to remove them from there, so the program of simplified admission through Education Centers is extremely important, as well as communication between Educational Centers, and additional knowledge we gained at the training,” said Serhii ZUEV, Executive Secretary of the Admissions Committee and Rector Assistant of Izmail State University of Humanities.

"We have developed a lot of practical skills. For me, it was a crucial point. It was really good that at the training we had the opportunity to talk to representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science, ask them questions and get answers quickly,” added Oksana ROMANOVA, Manager of the “Donbas-Ukraine” Education Center at Rubizhne Industrial Pedagogical College.

“The training was conducted in a unique format, with a combination of work, creative development, and recreation. Among other things, I would like to note the guidelines for employees of Education Centers. We will be happy to use them during an admission campaign,” said Yurii YAKOVENKO, Executive Secretary at the Donetsk National University of Economics and Trade named after Mykhailo Tuhan-Baranovskyi.
