Admission campaign for entrants from the temporarily occupied territories: Main stage of accepting documents is coming to an end today

Aug. 25, 2021, 5:05 p.m.

July 20 is the last day when entrants from the temporarily occupied territories can submit documents through the “Donbas/Crimea-Ukraine” Education Centers to study at higher and pre-higher education institutions on a state-budget basis.

Thus, the main stage of the admission campaign is coming to an end. The final stage - the budget and the contract - will last until September 20.

We are not yet ready to predict how active the final stage will be regarding educational institutions. However, they emphasize that last year the main flow of applicants was, however, during the main stage.

“This year we have two entrants from the Crimea and two more from settlements located along the contact line in the Donbas. In total, for the period from June to this day, we have 8 applications. We had an entrant who eventually refused to enter. She arrived with her mother, registered for a creative contest. We provided a dormitory, but the next day they informed us that they were leaving because it was very far from their home. And neither mother nor daughter were morally prepared for parting. Here was the story. We tried to organize everything as quickly and efficiently as possible. For example, entrants from the Crimea did not have a document of secondary education, and it was the hub school that worked very effectively here, preparing a temporary certificate in a few days, with which we registered them. According to the experience of the previous year, children are trying to enter during the main stage, so it is still difficult to say how active the final stage will be. By the way, it is worth noting that last year's entrants successfully study. They adapted perfectly, and this is the main argument in favor of a simplified procedure for admission through Education Centers,” said representatives of the Lviv National Academy of Arts.

“The Kherson State Maritime Academy received 5 applications; the Maritime Professional College - 8. Two entrants were from the Donbas, all others - from the Crimea. We complete the main stage of the admission campaign for applicants from the temporarily occupied territories with such results. Of course, we will wait for the entrants,” said representatives of the Kherson State Maritime Academy.

According to some universities, the number of entrants this year is slightly lower than the previous one, and it is related to an increase in the number of Education Centers in general.

“We have 38 entrants who enter through our Education Center. In fact, it is not many; we expected more. We think it depends on an extensive network of education centers this year. If we count, most likely, in Ukraine, as a whole, the number of children who used the services of ECs will be higher than in the previous year,” commented on the situation at the Donetsk National Technical University.
