Let's Open Green STrEAM: The Foundation continues to implement projects supported by the Lithuanian Embassy

In 2019, the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Ukraine again supported the Open Policy Foundation’s project “Let's Open Green STrEAM”, which trains educators, students of higher education institutions (hereinafter - HEI) and schoolchildren from Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts.

This project was launched last year and got great results, holding training and an information campaign. In total, the training brought together 50 educators (teachers, representatives of education departments and institutes of postgraduate education) from Ocheretyne, Rubizhne, Kramatorsk, Popasna, Stanytsa Luhanska, Troitske, Novodonetsk, Starobilsk, Bakhmut, and other cities near the “contact line”. They participated to study innovative STEM/STrEAM methods, project management, fundraising, and innovative educational cases of EU countries. In the open, creative and green space of the International Green School, the training’s participants learned the unique experience of combining interesting science with traditional art and green values. They also got to know how to teach students robotics, engineering and 3D modeling without interactive boards and expensive LEGO kits, using cheap materials.

More information about training courses in 2018 is available at the Open Policy Foundation’s website: http://openpolicy.org.ua/news/238/

In 2019, we continue our previous work. So, we have again planned 2 training courses “Innovative Summer Science & Digital [no] Schools” and “Innovative Autumn Science & Digital [no] Schools” for educators, students of HEI and schoolchildren from Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts.

The first 5-day training, “Innovative Summer Science & Digital [no] Schools”, will take place from 2 to 7 July 2019, at the International Green School in the Carpathians. The training will include three modules: Module 1. Let's Open Green STrEAM; Module 2. Media & Digital; Module 3. Soft Skills. They are aimed at the implementation of innovative STEM/STrEAM learning techniques, Digital Cases, Media and Soft Skills acquisition, and learning innovative management methods (SCRUM-Management) during innovative educational camps.

In the framework of the project, we also plan to create a motivational video clip on the methods of STEM/STrEAM learning based on ‘openschooling’ principles. A press lunch with the participation of educators, children and youth, as well as young scientists, artists and politicians will be held on Teacher's Day, on October 4, 2019.

We thank the Embassy of Lithuania in Ukraine for supporting the project.
