OPEN CLASSROOM WINDOWS INTO THE FUTURE: Ukraine learns from the Israeli experience

On April 27 at 10:00 a.m., a press conference will be held at the National News Agency of Ukraine “Ukrinform” on the topic “OPEN CLASSROOM WINDOWS INTO THE FUTURE! Cooperation between Ukraine and Israel in science education, STrEAM-learning, and student engagement in creating startups”.

Organizers: NGO “Open Policy Foundation”, Network “Civil Platform for the Reform of the Scientific Sphere in Ukraine”, and NGO “Israeli Friends of Ukraine” with the assistance of the Ukrainian Jewish Encounter, the Embassy of Ukraine in the State of Israel, the Embassy of Israel in Ukraine, and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

During the press conference, the results of the first Israeli-Ukrainian Educational Forum 2018, which took place in Tel Aviv, and a roadmap for reforming the secondary education in Ukraine (specialized scientific boarding schools) will be presented.The speakers will talk about Ukraine-Israel cooperation in innovative educational technologies and the involvement of schoolchildren of specialized scientific institutions in the field of startups and entrepreneurship.

An important topic of the discussion will be the access to STrEAM education for children from remote areas and students affected by armed conflict. The organizers will present a new project Open GREEN STrEAM, developed for Luhanska and Ivano-Frankivska oblasts. This project will be implemented on the basis of the International Green School (Міжнародназеленашкола) in the highland region of the Ukrainian Carpathians. Also, the representatives of the NGO “Open Policy Foundation” will present a charitable project of the International Green School for children from the east of Ukraine and families of the ATO participants.
