Qualitative education should be: Open Policy Foundation has recorded the STrEAM course on robotics, biology, arts and crafts

Dec. 22, 2017, 2:22 p.m.

Non-governmental organization "Open Policy Foundation" continues to work with its partners on the creation of video lessons in order to provide additional tools for equal access to innovative and quality education for children and youth regardless of their place of residence.
Today, in the context of the conflict, it is important to create high-quality video content for distance education for regular schools, vocational schools, and out-of-school facilities.

That is why we started recording the GREEN STrEAM course and present a series of video lessons on the topics of opening a class of robotics at school, making a straw spider (and also using a robot), and giving lessons in computer science, information technology, and biology in an interesting way.

STrEAM education is the innovative direction of world educational policy:
S - science, sport
T - technology
r - robotics
E – engineering
A - art
M - mathematics

Video lessons are available at the link and, unlike many other resources, are FREE and require NO registration. This is especially important for children and youth who are affected by the war in the east of Ukraine and live in temporarily occupied Crimea.
Video lessons can be interesting for teachers, children, parents, and heads of the classes.
They are useful for students in the mountainous schools or inaccessible areas, children with special needs as well as educational institutions, which are forced to continue their holidays due to lack of financing for space heating. The course is also crucial for those vocational educational institutions that are open for innovation.

GREEN STrEAM course was created by the Open Policy Foundation with the support of the Poltava Regional Institute of Postgraduate Pedagogical Education named after M.V. Ostrogradsky, the State Educational Institution "Children's Engineering Academy", along with lecturers from different regions of Ukraine.

The pilot course of GREEN STrEAM video lessons was recorded in 2017 as part of the 15th session of the International Green School in Kosmach, Kosiv District, Ivano-Frankivsk Region.

The authors of the STrEAM course:

Iryna ZHDANOVA – Head of the NGO "Open Policy Foundation", candidate of historical sciences.
Natalia VOVKOVINSKA – teacher of the State Educational Institution "Children's Engineering Academy".
Natalia OVERCHUK – teacher of Zhytomyr secondary school № 23, moderator of ethno workshop of the International Green School.
Leonid GOROBETS – Assistant Professor of the Department of Ecology and Environmental Protection of the "Institute of Biology and Medicine" of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, head of the sections "Biology" and "Paleontology" of the International Green School.
