Dec. 19, 2018, 2:57 p.m.

Innovative skills combined with an authentic culture; on December 11, schoolchildren of Ukraine and Israel took part in an interesting Skype-meeting organized by the representatives of the International Green School named after Klim Churyumov (NGO “Open Policy Foundation”).

The International Green School at the Dialogue Gymnasium in Kyiv and the School-Kindergarten of Rubizhne, Luhansk Oblast, talked online with students of an Israeli school.

The acquaintance meeting launched a six-year collaboration in the framework of the “Schools Online - Digital Collaborative Learning” (MASHAV, @Ministry of Education of Israel) project aimed at introducing Ukrainian and Israeli students to the latest information technologies and a distance approach to learning around the world, spreading tolerant attitude and learning authentic cultures of both countries.

Schoolchildren from the Green School were encouraged to tell Israeli children about their schools and study in the Kosmach highland village, at the International Green School (an alternative innovation school for young startups creators). They also shared interesting information about the famous Ukrainian astronomer Klim Churyumov and recited his poem “Venus” in English.

The teacher of geography, biology, chemistry and natural sciences of the School-Kindergarten of Rubizhne, teacher of chemistry at the International Green School Natalia Sarana shares her impressions: “The children were worried, happy, trying to understand each other but a sign language won! Children with their eyes gave warmth and joy of communication!”

Students from both Ukraine and Israel received great impressions from communication, and they are looking forward to new meetings.
