Iryna Zhdanova emphasized the need for implementing distance education at a meeting with the UN Assistant Secretary-General Ursula Mueller

On the17th of October Head of the Open Policy Foundation Iryna Zhdanova during the meeting with the UN Assistant Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs Ursula Mueller in Kramatorsk emphasized the importance of developing distance education in Ukraine as the only tool for obtaining state approved document for schoolchildren from NGCA.

At the meeting, which was dedicated to coordinating the United Nations response to humanitarian problems related to the conflict in Ukraine, there were also the UN Resident Coordinator in Ukraine Neal Walker, UNDP Country Director For Ukraine Jan Thomas Hiemstra, Head of the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Ukraine Ingrid MacDonald and Deputy Director of UNDP in Europe and the CIS Rastislav Vrbensky.

"Forgotten Conflict" – in that way Ursula Mueller called the conflict in the East of Ukraine. She noted that today only 25% of humanitarian needs in the East of Ukraine are funded by UN agencies. The purpose of her visit was to study the humanitarian needs in Ukraine and to update them at meetings in New York to increase funding.

Head of the Open Policy Foundation Iryna Zhdanova also gave Ursula Mueller an analytical note on the needs for distance education in the region.
